롯데 자이언츠는 지난 26일 외국인 투수 마켈 선수를 한국야구위원회에 임의탈퇴 공시 신청했다.

마켈 선수는 그 동안 적응 실패와 개인적인 가정사로 인해 컨디션 조절에 어려움을 겪어 왔다. 이로 인한 고민 끝에 선수 본인이 구단에 계약 해지의사를 요청하였으며 구단은 이를 수용하고 임의탈퇴 공시를 신청했다.

한편, 롯데 자이언츠는 빠른 시일 내에 대체 외국인 선수를 영입할 계획이다.
